Truck Trailer Hitch - Get It Right
Got a load to pull with your truck? Make sure your truck trailer hitch is the right size for the amount of cargo you are about to transport.
Some many people get this wrong and end up with truck damage to the frame, the bumper or the suspension. In some case they lose their load or cause an accident for themselves or with others.
There are several types of trailer hitches such as a rear hitch, bumper hitch, equalizer hitch and a fifth wheel hitch. They come in all different shapes and sizes.
Have you ever notice how some people buy a heavy duty three quarter or one ton truck and then equip it with too small of a hitch. You end up with a big truck, large trailer and a under size trailer hitch. It becomes the weakest link.
Almost all the truck trailer hitches bolt on and very easy to install with a good basic set of hand tools. If you can’t or don’t want to do it, then there are people that will do the job right.
The days of welding a hitch onto the frame of your vehicle are history. The truck manufactures have provided the predrilled holes in order for you to mount your hitch with very little trouble.
The truck hitches are usually classified by class such as class II, class III or class IV and most application use the standard 2” ball for hook up.

Quite a few people decide when they purchase their truck what type of load they will want to haul and order it with truck, or have the dealer install one for them at the time of purchase.
Just make sure you purchase the right one to match the work at hand you do. The wrong hitch and failure of it could cost you a lot. It may not just be the dollars it cost in damage but could also cause serious injury to you or others.
